Why the values are written in, not printed

Published sources for Hand, Knee and Foot disagree by a factor of four on what the special books are worth. One totals a full set at three thousand; another itemizes its way past eleven thousand.

So the sheet prints the common value in light type and puts a line beside it for the number your table actually plays. Settle it once, write it down, and stop re-litigating it in round three.

The same goes for the stacks. Fifteen, thirteen and eleven is the usual count, and there is a place on the tracker for yours if it is not.

The five books

Most groups make a side complete five named books before anyone may go out: seven sevens, seven fives, seven wilds, one clean canasta and one dirty canasta.

That is five things to remember per side per round, which is exactly the sort of thing a table argues about. The tracker sheet is a grid of checkboxes: books down the side, rounds across, one column per side.

It also has a row for whether a side has reached its foot yet, because you cannot go out before you are playing from it.

How it differs from Hand and Foot

There is a third stack, the knee, between the hand and the foot.

The opening meld climbs by round rather than by score: fifty, ninety, one hundred and twenty, one hundred and fifty.

The going-out requirement is a named list rather than a count of clean and dirty canastas.

Make it your club's

Two things you can add before you buy, and you see both on the preview first. Your group's name prints across the header and footer of every sheet. Your own logo, a PNG or JPEG up to 3 MB, prints across the top.

A transparent PNG sits best against the color you choose. Anything around 300 pixels tall or more prints crisply; smaller images still work but look soft.

Large print

Check the large print box when you customize and the scoring grid comes out with noticeably bigger type and taller rows, which most people find easier to read across a table.

The grid is what grows. Reference panels and the fine print stay at their normal size, so nothing gets squeezed off the page, and the sheet still holds a sensible number of rounds.

How many players?
Four in two partnerships is usual. Six play in three partnerships.
How many decks?
One more than there are players, jokers included — five decks for four players.
Our book values are different.
That is the normal case, which is why they are written in rather than printed. The sheet works with any set of values.
Is this the same as Hand and Foot?
No. Hand, Knee and Foot adds a third stack and a different going-out rule. Plain Hand and Foot is on the Canasta sheets.
